No, those aren’t bugs in my broccoli! They are black sesame seeds and this garlic broccoli salad is SO flavorful. A mix of Asian flavors and broccoli salad, this is a favorite of mine. The broccoli is actually cooked al dente by the hot oil, but you eat it chilled. You could also serve warm over rice, but we’ve usually eaten it as a cold salad. Either way is so flavorful. As we get closer to garden season/farmers markets this is an excellent way to spice up your veggie eating.
I’ve also made it with regular sesame seeds… the flavor is the same, I just tried black this time to mix is up.. and I’m not sure if I like it… it looks a little buggy {ha!} This salad whips up in about 10 minutes, chill for an hour and serve up this delicious garlic broccoli salad. It’s a very flavorful and fresh salad, you won’t be disappointed!

Ingredients
- Garlic Broccoli Salad with Sesame Seeds
- 2 Heads Broccoli
- Â 1 1/2 tsp red wine vinegar
- 2 TBS sesame oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 c. virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves minced garlic
Instructions
- Stir the vinegar and salt together in a large bowl. Add the broccoli and toss well. Heat the olive oil, garlic and sesame oil in a small sauce pan. When hot, pour over the broccoli, toss again. Chill 1 hr then serve.
