Maple and Orange Winter Salad with Apples is a tasty salad covered in toppings like bacon, blue cheese, and apples with a sweet and tangy dressing

This is one of my favorite salads!

I love everything about it… the tart green apple with the slightly sweet maple-orange dressing, and then there’s blue cheese on it {which, of course, makes everything better}, plus toasted walnuts {my favorite!}

Oh I am just so glad that I am eating this salad while I write this post, or I’d be mighty sad without it It’s a great fall/winter salad! I guess because most of the ingredients are fall or winter seasonal ingredients.

I was in charge of making the salad last Christmas, and this is the one I brought. Everyone loved it. I may or may not have eaten half the enormous bowl {hint: I did}. But it’s just so good that I couldn’t help myself.

My point is that it’s great for the holidays and for serving to others. It has enough toppings to keep your non-salad lovers happy and it’s just really really tasty.

Can you tell that I’m obsessed with this salad?

If you’re being super observant you will notice that I used Parmesan instead of blue cheese. Well… I got a little side tracked in the Whole Foods cheese department and came home with three cheeses, none of which were blue.

{But I did come home with Brie, and I’ll be using that tomorrow!!}

So use your imagination and picture blue cheese in that salad. And while you’re at it, picture some dried cranberries too…

Now, you must use real maple syrup for this dressing. Don’t buy imitation or pancake syrup! Your salad with be just down right bad if you use that.

So do yourself and others a favor and buy the real stuff {which you can also use for this yummy sweet potato casserole}.
